The product is a set of 12 hatching chicken eggs, specifically a barnyard mix (Araucana, Barred Rock, Sapphire Gem, Olive Egger, Australorps, Buff Orpington, Easter Egger) originating from the United States. These eggs are intended for hatching chicken offspring. The eggs come from a mix of chickens which are raised on quality seed, herbs and healthy snacks. They free roam 70% of the day and are absolutely considered pets. All (including the roosters) enjoy human affection and have come to expect to be held daily (resulting in very happy chickens:)). Any treatments are done holistically or by methods that do not cause egg withdrawal. Homemade electrolytes and medicinal herbs are made available to the flock, daily.
It is important to note that the eggs should be handled and stored carefully to ensure optimal hatching success.
I have a 1:7 hen to rooster ratio to ensure fertilization. When I incubate, I generally have 100% fertilization rate with strong hatch rates. The roosters are absolutely gorgeous (people have literally stopped to take photos) and the girls are great layers. We have been getting 12+ eggs (see photos for beautiful colors, which really don’t do them justice) from 20 layers every day, throughout the entire winter. One of our girls lays double yolks at least once a week - always fun to open with the kiddos.
Eggs are collected daily and will be packaged in foam with . All eggs are mailed within 2 days after collection. Larger orders may be shipped with a day separation to ensure that the eggs are same day collected.
I will include a ‘Butt Nugget Scrubbie’ - a bacteria resistant crocheted egg washing pouch which makes it easy to properly clean your (once your girls start laying) without risking dropping them in the sink.
